CLIC, in collaboration with North Cumbria Knowledge and Library Services, are planning a series of Lunch and Learns. These are 30 minute, virtual, informal sessions that take place at lunchtime - while you take a break and eat, you can listen to our invited speaker give a short talk sharing their experience of improvement work. The session is then open to anyone who has questions or reflections to offer.

Join us for this Lunch and Learn to hear from Dr Prasanna de Silva (Consultant Old Age Psychiatrist at Cumbria, Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust (CNTW)), who will be joined by his colleagues Ans Epskamp (Clinical Lead - Care Home Education & Support Service (CHESS), CNTW) and Josie Harbison (Service Manager, CNTW). Together they will present and answer questions on 'Care home liaison during covid-19: Experience from the coalfields & lakes'.

The short presentation will cover:

  • Who they are and what they do (including service history, staffing, outcomes)
  • What they want to do (quality improvements including avoiding sarcopenia, polypharmacy)
  • What they would like to get (integration with acute care delirium outreach, PD nurses and move to a 7-day service)

About our speaker...

Dr Prasanna de Silva has been a doctor for 37 years (q Aberdeen) and a consultant psychiatrist for 25 years; with CCTs in adult, old age and rehabilitation psychiatry. He currently works remotely in Care Home liaison across North Cumbria, as part of the CHESS team. He has been a Specialist Advisor for the Care Quality Commission (CQC) between 2016 – 2018 involving 23 full inspections of mental health trusts across England.
