CLIC, in collaboration with North Cumbria Knowledge and Library Services, are planning a series of Lunch and Learns. These are 30 minute, virtual, informal sessions that take place at lunchtime - while you take a break and eat, you can listen to our invited speaker give a short talk sharing their experience of improvement work. The session is then open to anyone who has questions or reflections to offer.

Join us for this Lunch and Learn to hear from Dr Brenda Connolly (Consultant Clinical Psychologist & Clinical Lead for Staff Wellbeing at North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust (NCIC)), on 'Compassionate Mind Training for Staff Wellbeing'.

The aim of this session is to provide an overview of compassionate mind training, a new offer from NCIC's staff wellbeing service. Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT) is an evidence-based psychological intervention which aims to help promote mental and emotional healing by encouraging people to be compassionate toward themselves and other people. Compassionate Mind Training is the psychoeducation and skills building part of CFT, but can also be used as a stand-alone therapeutic intervention. It helps us to understand, and work with, our tricky brains. It builds our abilities to use our bodies to support our minds, and develop the courage and wisdom to address our life difficulties and flourish.

About our speaker...

Dr Brenda Connolly joined the NCIC staff wellbeing service as clinical lead when it launched in June 2021. Prior to this she worked in the physical health psychology service for 8 years. Brenda specialises in compassion and trauma informed approaches, with a specialist interest in healthcare staff wellbeing.
