Community event plans to showcase services at Wigton Community Hospital

A community fun day has been planned to engage with local people and promote the fantastic services which work out of Wigton Community Hospital.  Since the development of the hospital in recent years from an inpatient unit to a thriving health and wellbeing hub, it has been noticed that there is a general lack of awareness in the community about what goes on inside the building – the open day plans to address this. Let’s Talk Bereavement Project – An update & training dates

The Let’s Talk Bereavement Project funded through NHS Charities Together started delivering free core bereavement skills during Dying Matters Awareness Week (2 – 6 May) to staff and volunteers across North Cumbria who support the public. Since then, over 150 people from more than 25 organisations (third sector, public sector & private sector) have already attended. Feedback has been supportive and encouraging, and people are recommending the course to others. The second phase of the project will be starting from October 2022, and additional free training will be available to build on core skills and help develop confidence in supporting children and young people and those bereaved by suicide. New Roles in Primary Care (ARRS) – Join a Preceptorship

North East and North Cumbria’s Primary Care Training Hub is piloting a Preceptorship programme for 3 ARRS Roles: Mental Health Practitioners; First Contact Physiotherapists; and Pharmacy Technicians. The Hub is seeking expressions of interest from people who are in one of these roles, and would like to become a Preceptee within the programme. Preceptees will have access to a Preceptor for one hour per month for 12 months. A blended approach will be adopted when meeting with the Preceptors. Co-Production Week 2022 – the highlights

National Co-Production Week returned for a seventh year in 2022, taking place 4 – 9 July. Co-production is a way of working that involves people who use health and care services, carers and communities in equal partnership. This enables us to learn from lived experience, think differently, and challenge current ways of working – it maintains a truly person-centred perspective, and is often where the real transformation happens.
